Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a short term therapy helping you identify and move past issues that are creating difficulties for you.
Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) is a short term therapy usualy lasting between 6 - 20 sessions depending on the severity of the problem. The work focuses on the here and now as opposed to spending time talking about past problems/difficulties/experiences. It is important that we look at what you may have learned from these events in order not to repeat old behavioural patterns and thinking.
You are encouraged to identify both short and long-term goals that you would like to achieve. We talk about how you think about yourself, other people and the world. We also discuss how your negative thoughts and feelings are preventing you from experiencing a more fulfilling and positive lifestyle.

"Patricia has been invaluable in my progress to moving forward from a particularly difficult period of my life. This has been my first time undergoing counselling and I am so glad I found Patricia. She has been pivotal in guiding me in the right direction and helping to clarify my thoughts when the constant rumination left me feeling completely confused and stuck. I have felt that during my sessions with Patricia, she has been objective whilst also wanting the very best for me and I have felt that she deeply cared about the direction my life moved in. There aren't enough words to say how thankful I am for finding her, thank you Patricia from the bottom of my heart!"
Jo, 41, Cirencester
"Patricia is a very easy person to open up to and a delightfully warm human being. I feel very comfortable in her presence and feel confident of her confidentiality. Patricia brings out the best in a person and seeks out light hearted moments when one feels temporarily down hearted and cannot see light at the end of the tunnel. I would whole heartedly recommend Patricia if you are feeling nervous about taking the next step to moving forward in your life."
Linda, 66, Gloucestershire
"It is thought of as a daunting experience going for counselling or help, and to share your problems/concerns/worries with a complete stranger. Patricia makes this so easy to do and is an amazing listener and communicator. She understands what you are experiencing and makes the session just seem like a chat and very enjoyable. You come away refreshed enlightened and full of energy. I would highly recommend her. As soon as she feels you don't need her she lets you know. To me this is the hard part, letting go of her!"

"Excellent, I was able to make great progress for my mental health condition through my therapy sessions with Patricia Adams. My therapist provided an excellent service particularly through using CBT techniques and I noticed a significant improvement in my mental health condition following each session. I would highly recommend Patricia Adams."

"From the very first session, I found Patricia extremely easy to talk to. I was pleased that the sessions were grounded in my present. Very quickly, we found methods of dealing with my issues, and I have been able to move forward quickly and positively. I am now seeing Patricia every three months for a 'top up' session. I am really pleased with the work we have done and highly recommend Patricia."

"I found Patricia immediately open, friendly and easy to talk with. She spent a lot of time encouraging me to open up and explore my thinking, really focusing me on changing my internal thought process around stress and anxiety. She was also good fun to meet and made the sessions I have had with her enjoyable as well as insightful, with lots of practical advice for me to take away and implement which have made a real impact for me."
